Transforming care through research

Research and learning are the pillars that support our clinical practice. We know that to deliver the best care possible to clients, patients and families, and to improve our health care system, we need to invest in scientific research and continuous learning.

We are focused on research that will improve the lives of:

People with complex mental illness and addiction
People who have been incarcerated or who are currently in custody
People who have been found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder

Our Research Institute

The BCMHSUS Research Institute works in partnership with researchers and academic institutions, clinicians, people with lived and living experience and other stakeholders across BC to:

• Generate new knowledge
• Integrate research evidence developed with people with lived and living experience of health care
• Ground our work in equity, diversity and inclusion and Indigenous health research ethics
