Provincial Assessment Centre to join Provincial Health Services Authority
The Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) is a multi-disciplinary mental health service for people age 14 and up with a developmental disability and a concurrent mental illness, or behaviour issue. It includes a 10-bed inpatient facility in Coquitlam, and outpatient services.
Since 2005, CLBC has operated PAC. Following a service delivery model review, it was determined that PAC would best be integrated with the provincial mental health system. BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services operates a range of specialized facilities and services, including Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, and Heartwood Centre for Women.
Work to transition the service from CLBC to PHSA is ongoing, and expected to be complete in the fall of 2023. CLBC is working closely with PHSA to ensure a smooth transition so there is no disruption to service for individuals and families.
